Transcription and evaluation of antioch Ser'iyye Register Numbered 7 (H. 1175-1177/ A.D. 1761-1764)

Records of Ser'iyye registers; allows detailed datas about political, social and economic structure as well as juridical process that was regularly recorded by the Muslim judges or surrogates of the kaza. These are primary sources for he studies of local history. Indeed it is possible to reach a great deal of information about the the period and variety subjects; namely, social life, clothing, population, legal process and interactions among people. The extent of study called "Transcription and Evaluation of Antioch Ser'iyye Register Numbered 7 (H. 1175-1177/A.D. 1761-1764) consists of the period between Hijri 1175 and 1177 (A.D. 1761-1764). Although former studies and researches had partly benefited from advantages of the numbered 7 Antioch ser'iyye register, it has not been transcribed and evaluated as whole. By this research, it has been sought to fill this gap. This study seeks to determine administrative, social, economic and demographic structure with the legal process besides the place names (sub-district, neighbourhood, village, hamlet) the Kaza of Antioch in second half of the XVIIIth century. The original images of the Antioch ser'iyye register numbered 7 had been found in the Archive of Ottoman and it had been evaluated by transcriptioning with the Latin Alphabet. With this study, it has been reached to detailed datas about various subject. For instance; place names between years of 1761-1764 in the Kaza of Antioch, officers and their term of office working in the administration of kaza, legal relations between people, professions and population of artisan, daily equipments and values of materials, the community life, clothes, employment, names, nicknames, family (married/divorced, monogamy/polygamy) and demographic structure (Muslim-non-Muslim) etc.
