Knowledge construction process of the 7th grade students' of first degree equations with two unknowns and inequality graph

The aim of this study is to analyse the knowledge construction processes of the 7th grade students? first degree equations with two unknowns and inequality graph. In order to design appropriate learning- teaching atmosphere, it is very important to deal with the process as well as the result. It is clear that if the problems and deficiencies emerging in the process can be settled clearly and proper solutions are produced, it is obvious that new knowledge will be more meaningful.This study that we are focusing is the case study which is one of the methods of qualitative research. The study has been recorded with a camera. In addition, observation and document analysis methods have been used. It has been carried out by the help of nine students from three different schools and from each school three students have attended the study. So as to define the students attending the case study group, a test has been done and the factors such as their school reports, their teachers? considerations about students and students? placement tests results have been taken into consideration.It has been concluded from the data obtained that processes of constructing knowledge are multi-directional, the actions observed in the process are nested and subjective and it has been also clear that each of the students is learning at his/her own pace. Typically it has been understood that, successful students have no difficulties in reaching abstraction level, but it has been also reported that one group of students have constructed knowledge structures which are partially correct. As well as, it has also shown that the students whose group interaction is more than the others improve their skills more efficiently.
