The aim of this study is to examine the 7th grade Social Studies textbook in terms of content according to general teaching principles. The approach of the study was determined as qualitative research. Document review technique was used as a data collection tool in the research, which was sampled by the Secondary School 7th Grade Social Studies textbook published by the Ministry of National Education in 2022. Descriptive analysis method was used to interpret the data obtained. According to the research results, when the content of the textbook is examined according to general teaching principles, it is seen that some principles are seen in every learning field, some vary depending on the content of the learning field, and no findings regarding some principles are found. Teaching principles contribute to making planned teaching activities and resources more efficient. Therefore, stakeholders are recommended to adhere to these principles, taking into account the quality of teaching and student characteristics.
