Determine whether the lesson hours are sufficient or not in 7th grade social sciences lesson according to the opinions of teachers.

Social Sciences can be defined as a field of study by which basic information, attitude and values about social life are given to students based on the information of the Social Sciences disciplines with the aim of educating good and responsible citizens in primary and secondary schools. Therefore, Social Sciences Lesson undertakes big tasks in making students aware of their responsibilities for their country and defend their country against every situation. The aim of this study is to determine whether the lesson hours are enough or not in 7th Grade Social Sciences Lesson according to the opinions of teachers. This study is made by using "Scan Method" which is a quantitative method. Also a survey is conducted to analyse, comment and evaluate the study. The survey is made with the 50 Social Sciences teachers working in secondary schools in Sancaktepe district of Istanbul. The data was put to Chi-Square Test and Cross Tabulation Test by analyzing with SPSS Programme. According to the analysis and data received, teachers think that the 7th Grade Social Sciences Lesson must be at least 4 hours in a week. They also consider that they don't get enough efficiency, performance and acquisition from the students at the end of the lesson. According the survey, the students can not use the equipments ( atlas, map, projector…etc.) properly and they also can not do enough exercise and repetition for the subjects. Furthermore, nearly no teachers who took part in the survey has private class in their schools as per the survey results.
