SUMMARY The aim of this study was to determine the effects of eight weeks strength training programme on some motoric and technical characteristics of 11-12-year-old girls mini volleyball players. Thirty six subjects who played in club and school matches (experimental group (n=18), age 11.6±0.5 year , body height 163.5±9.6 cm, body weight 53.5±8.8 kg, age of experience 18.1±5.1 month; control group (n= 18), age 11.6±0.5 year, body height 163.8±6.8 cm, body weight 54.0± 5.07 kg, age of experience 18.0± 10.0 month) voluntarily participated in this study. Sit-up, push-up, vertical jump, standing long jump test were performed in order to determine some motoric characteristics; setting, digging and serve test batteries were performed in order to determine some technical characteristics of the subjects. Eight weeks strength training programme was applied (three days per week, seventy five minutes for each training session) on the experimental group after taking the first measurements. On the other hand, during these eight weeks, control group continued to their regular volleyball training. Last measurements were taken from both groups after eight weeks. All datas were evaluated by Sigma Plot statistical software. While there was a statistically significant difference was found in all motoric and technical parameters of experimental group after eight weeks strength training programme, there was no statistically significant difference in all motoric and technical parameters of control group (p<0.05).
