Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the effects of an eight-week Pilates exercise program on women's body satisfaction and psychological resilience, and to compare the findings with existing literature. The research utilized an experimental design to evaluate the effects of Pilates interventions. Data were collected through surveys administered to 40 randomly selected female participants living in a specific city in 2023. Participants' Body Mass Index (BMI) distribution included 5% underweight, 35% normal weight, 45% overweight, and 15% obese. Body Satisfaction Scale (BSS) and Psychological Resilience Scale (PRS) were used to measure body satisfaction and psychological resilience before and after the intervention, and the data were analyzed. Validity and reliability studies of the scales showed high values. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 25.0 software, including normality tests, descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, repeated measures t-tests, correlation, and regression analyses. The findings indicated that Pilates exercises had a significant positive effect on body satisfaction. The increase in BSS scores demonstrated that the exercises improved body perception and supported a positive body image. In terms of psychological resilience, the increase in PRS scores signaled positive effects of the exercise, although the moderate average scores suggested that Pilates might have limited impact on psychological resilience or that other factors might be influencing it. Changes in BMI scores indicated that the exercise program affected body composition, including weight loss, muscle mass increase, and changes in body fat percentage. The effects of age, marital status, and education level were also examined, revealing significant changes in participants aged 35-42. In conclusion, Pilates exercises have been shown to have positive effects on both physical and psychological health. Future research should explore the effects of Pilates in diverse individuals and conditions more comprehensively.
