Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesisis to contribute to the 8th grade studentsʹ learnings in science and technology course by evaluating student achi evements for 8th grade science and techlogoy course units. This study was made with the 8th grade students (total numbers, N=210) of the Vali Adil Yazar, Türk Telekom and Yüzüncü Yıl Zafer secondary schools located in the central of Muş city and with the science and technology teachers (total numbers, N=14) worked in these schools. In this study, the transformational model of mixed method research design was used. To improve the related achievement test, a group was established consisting of four teachers worked in the selected sample schools as science and technology teacher. An achievement test in the endofeach unit was prepared from the questions pool created by this group and achievement tests which consist of 15 questionsin the end of each unit were advanced. Reliability calculations of the applied achi evement tests were calculated by the Kuder-Richardson 21 (KR21) formula. As a result of the obtained data, it is observed that the most difficulty unit for the students is "force and movement" unit, while the least difficulty unit for 8th grade students in science and technology course is "sound" unit. Also, a similar result was seen in interviews made with teachers.
