Abstract (EN)

In this study, eighth grade students' problem posing success in the field of algebra learning was examined. In this research, in which qualitative research design was used, the study group of the research consisted of 10 eighth grade students. Students were asked to answer the problem posing test, which included different problem posing tasks: free, semi-structured and structured. In order to examine students' responses to problem posing tasks, a scheme based on the problem posing evaluation schemes created by Silver and Cai (2005), Türnüklü, Ergin and Aydoğdu (2017) and Katrancı (2014) was used. As a result of the study, it was determined that approximately one-fourth of the students' answers to the tasks did not indicate a problem situation. In addition, it was observed that students had difficulty in posing problems appropriate to the data and were generally unsuccessful in posing problems. Based on the research results, it has been suggested that teaching activities based on problem posing should be included more in classrooms.
