The idea of including primary sources in the 8th grade T.R. the history of the revolutionary and the Ataturkism course book

In this research, it is aimed to reveal the situation of including first-hand sources in the 8th Grade Turkish Revolution History and Kemalism textbook. The study was designed as a qualitative research in the survey model. The study group of the research consists of the 8th Grade Turkish Revolution History and Kemalism textbook, which was published by Bir-Yay Publishing House with the decision of the Board of Education and Discipline in the 2021-2022 academic year. In the study, Primary Source Detection Form, Visual Evidence Analysis Form and Written Evidence Analysis Form were used for the identification and analysis of primary written and visual sources. According to the research findings, it was concluded that the first-hand written and visual sources used in the book were not evenly distributed among the units, the visual sources used were much more than the written sources, and the types of written and visual sources used were not diversified. When the primary written and visual resources used are examined in terms of the level of intelligibility, it has been determined that there is no standard in the use of resources, it has been concluded that the quality of the visual resources is low and the resources that are not suitable for the student's level are used. With this study, it is recommended that similar studies be carried out in terms of diversifying future studies and using first-hand resources at different grade levels.
