The evaluation of the lesson books of the eighth class of elemantary education from the viewpoint of vocabulary

This study has been done to determine thesaurus which is -presented for studentsin 8th grade Turkish coursebook prepared by Ministry of Education and to inspect agreement of this coursebook to Turkish Instruction Program. In this study, reading passages in the coursebook, parts of preparation studies, word and phrase studies, type and morpohology studies, comprehension and expression studies, let?s learn our language section, oral and written expression parts, calligraphy part, application studies, and dictionary section have been inspected with regard to thesaurus. Assessment has not been done on words, but concepts. Concepts have been considered in terms of semantic. Datas have been reached by using computer techniques. All sections have been assessed separately and finally concepts have been ordered. Proper nouns, idioms, metaphors, terms, total concept number, repeated concept number, number of concept used as variety and their rates have been showed in tables. Obtained datas and assessment which was done according to these datas indicated that this coursebook is not enough for improving students? thesaurus.
