Abstract (EN)
This study was planned and conducted to determine the relationship between healthy eating attitude, nutritional knowledge level, sleep quality and adherence to the Mediterranean diet in children aged 9-14 years. 265 volunteer children aged 9-14 years living in Eskişehir participated in the study. The research was applied to the children by the researcher using the face-to-face survey technique. The questionnaire form used in the study consisted of demographic information, anthropometric characteristics, health information, physical activity habits, sleep and nutrition information of the participants, Sleep Quality Scale and Sleep Variables Questionnaire, Adolescent Nutrition Knowledge Level (ABBID), Attitude Scale Towards Healthy Eating (SBITO), Mediterranean Diet Quality Index (KIDMED) questions. It was determined that 56% of the girls and 55,7% of the boys had poor sleep quality. It was determined that there was a significant relationship between sleep quality and age, sleep disorders, school departure time, school time bedtime (p<0,05). ABBID total score average is 19,27±5,57. When the SBITO scores were evaluated, it was determined that the scale total score of girls was higher than that of boys. It was determined that there was a significant difference (p<0,05) between the SBITO classification, age and the most skipped meal status. It was determined that 57,6% of girls and 55% of boys were fed with KIDMED medium diet quality. When the relationship between sleep quality and KIDMED was examined, it was determined that 67.4% of those with good sleep quality had good diet quality, and 48.6% of those with poor sleep quality had very low diet quality. As a result, the goal in children should be to establish healthy and adequate sleep behaviors and a correct and non-uniform diet.
