ABSTRACT MSc THESIS INFLUENCE OF p-GLUCAN ON SOME HAEMATOLOGICAL AND IMMUNOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF HEALTHY NILE TILAPIA (Oreochromis niloticus) SELÇUK DUMAN DEPARTMENT OF FISHERIES INSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES UNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVA Supervisor : Asist.Prof.Dr. Aysel SAHAN Year 2004, 26 Jury : Asist.Prof.Dr. Aysel SAHAN Prof. Dr. Ibrahim CENGİZLER Asist.Prof.Dr. Ercüment GENÇ In this study, effect of beta-glucan on immunological and haematological parameters in Nile Tilapia {Oreochromis niloticus L.) after different levels of administrations were investigated. Fish were fed the control and experimental diets containing glucan at 0.5 %, 0. 1 % levels for two weeks and the feeding rate was 2 %. During experiment hematocrit (Hct), haemoglobin (Hb), and the values of phagocytic activities were determined. At the end of the investigations, hematocrit and phagocytic activity values of fish fed with the diets containing two levels of glucan were higher than that of fish fed with control diet. There was no any significant difference on the haemoglobin values of different groups. Key Words : Nile Tilapia {Oreochromis niloticus L.), Immunostimulant, Beta- Glucan, Haematology, Immun System
