Abstract (EN)

Late years it can be seen that there is a great interest in idioms and proverbs in our country, as in Russia and other countries. The number of theoretical and practical workouts presented by scientists and researchers is increasing permanently. Furthermore, translation methods of the word groups which is our thesis subject are processed with different analysises. A lot of workouts such as dictionary, books, articles and thesises related with idioms and proverbs are earned to linguistics. On the other hand idioms and proverbs in Turkish and Russian are researched comparatively, prepared bilingual dictionaries.Purpose of our thesis is dealing with the workouts of idioms and proverbs especially in Russia and Turkey firstly then presenting the translation methods of these word groups recommended by specialists and emphasizing the importance of correct translation.The idioms and proverbs contained in famous Russian author A. S Pushkin's novel ?The Captain's Daughter? are determined and it is emphasized that how these word groups are transfered in 12 different Turkish translations. It is introduced that which methods are used by our translators to translate 121 idioms and 13 proverbs in the novel and which mistakes are made. Additionaly, the causes of the mistakes are reflected as well as the success rates of different translators are determined.Key words:1. Idioms2. Proverbs3. Literary translation4. Stability5.
