The effects of the policies implemented during the Abbasid Period on the spread of İslam

In this thesis titled 'The Effects of Policies Implemented during The Abbasid Period on The Spread of Islam' , we studied the effects of these policies on the spread of Islam in geographies under control of state by examining the political, economic and social policies implemented during the Abbasid period.The purpose of this study is to show how effective these policies implemented during the Abbasid period were in encouraging the adoption of Islam by non-Muslim population, whose numbers were considerable within the state. The influence of the Abbasids on the people of the countries they interacted with in spreading the religion of Islam is also included. The scope of our study consists of general history of the Abbasid period and the examination of how the political, economic and social policies implemented during the Abbasid period affected the recognition of Islam by non-Muslims living and interacting within the state. Although there are many studies on the Abbasid period, any specific work has not been written that examines the spread of Islam in a society that includes many people with different ethnic cultures, such as the Abbasid state. In our thesis, it is aimed to reveal different points of the subject with the information obtained from current and foreign sources, based on the basic sources of Islamic history. While the Abbasid period was a period that Western civilization called the Dark Age, it was undoubtedly the period when Islamic civilization experienced its brightest age. While Western civilization lived a period that is called the Dark Age, the Abbasid period was undouptedly the period when Islamic civilization experienced its brightest age. During this period, the caliphs made the commands of the Islamic religion the basic starting point in the policies they implemented. Both the opportunities and privileges granted by the Caliphs to non-Muslim people and the tolerance-based approach of the Abbasid Muslim society significantly influenced the spread of Islam among these groups.
