Abstract (EN)
Geostrategically important Black Sea has been the scene of many struggles between global powers through the history. Collapse of the Soviet Union has changed the balances in the Black Sea Region. The countries who declared their independence had been subject of struggle between global powers. Ukraine and Georgia have been the countries who experienced these struggles the most significantly. In this study the political developments that Ukraine and Georgia experienced in the recent years and the policies followed by global powers are discussed. In the first part of the study, information about Black Sea?s changing geostrategic significance and policies of global powers on Black Sea region and environmental organisations emerged by the Black Sea region have been given. In the second part, the power struggle taking place in Ukraine and global forces?s targets and interests on Ukraine are considered. Information about Orange Revolution which is the peak point of the struggle between the global powers, have been given. The issues and titles discussed in the Ukraine section are also used for Georgia.
