Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, we have worked on the leading fîgures of 19th century Egyptian Literature, orator, journalist and poet Abdallah Nadîm who participated the uprising against the colonial order with his fearlessly and sincerely writings and speeches. We analysed Egyptian Nadîm's life, his literary personality and works.The milestone in Nedîm's life was his meeting with Mahmoud Sami al-Barudi in Cairo and joining the 'Urâbi uprising in 1881. He published et-Tenkît ve't-Tebkît magazine to support the uprising and became the voice of the revolt. He joined Tell el-Kebir war against the British army with Ahmed 'Urâbi and Mahmoud Sami al-Barudi which resulted in the defeat of the Arabs. Nadim was a strong, steadfast, sweet-tongued, charming orator and a great master of motivation. He knows very well how the people think, and speak in this direction. He reached the summit of the journalism profession with his three magazines. In the fîeld of social reform, he was one of the top fîgures who criticize the rich and the poor people of his era. There was solidarity in the axis of his social calling. Therefore, he built charity and solidarity communities and aimed at the spreading of education and solidarity among the people. In the fîeld of culture, Nadim is one of the greatest authors of Arabic literature. He has written many works of art and literature throughout his life and especially during his hiding period. In his articles, he mentioned the vital issues that would cause people to become conscious. Nadim was one of the greatest fîgures of folk literature. It succeeded in expanding this literature with the goals and instructions of modern awakening and social rehabilitation. Nadim's literature addressed to the whole people regardless of class distinction. All the things he did about literature, his speeches, poems, dialogues, social articles, literary plays were for the people. Famous people, fallahs and rich people benefîted from these literary genres. The zecelles that he wrote about social subjects shed light on the art of zecel in general. In this thesis, we analysed Egyptian Nadim's life, his literary personality and works, major factors that affected him throughout his life, joining to literature world, his struggle against westernization, exile periods, his works and published journals.
