Abstract (EN)

The Arab novel has a deep-rooted history that goes back to the 'Nahda' movement which is seen as the cultural Arabian Renaissance. It is a fact accepted by the world literary circles that the Arab novel entered the development process after the 1930s. Abdurrahman Munif who is the subject of our research was born after this date which was accepted as a milestone for the Arab novel and decided on literature after working in other branches for a long time. Although the novel is already considered as a Western literary genre, it started to stand out in the Arab World after the 1930s and turned into a genre written with the concern of giving a message according to the priorities of pen owners. As one of these pen ownwers Munif is a literary man who witnesses what he has lived and wrote. As can be seen in his works, the Arabic novel has a quality that incorporates classical and modern prose features. When we examine the Arab novel from a historical perspective, we see that social and political changes are effective in its formation and development. In our study, we will reveal that the author identity of Munif is shaped through this line from a realistic perspective. Abdurrahman Munif is one of the world-renowed writes of Arabic literature. There are academic studies about him at doctorate or master's level both in the West and in the East and in our country. The reason for us to study this subject is to reveal such a successful and unique literary personality that has existed in the literary world in a more comprehensive way starting from the perspective of life and literature, to examine its place in world literature comparatively, some of the acclaimed in many countries of the world today and to introduce him to the Turkish literary world more closely in the eyes of his books that are banned in their countries and in his novel named City of Salt (el-Tîh).
