Evaluation of acer monspessulanum subsp. monspessulanum and acer sempervirens in terms of landscape genetics in intensive distribution areas in antalya and it's propagation possibilities by cuttings

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the evaluation of landscape genetic of Acer monspessulanum subsp. monspessulanum and A. sempervirens species in dense area in Antalya, and the determination of the possibilities of the propagation by cuttings for these species were aimed. When characteristics of the leaves, fruits, flowers, shoots and plant sizes of Acer monspessulanum subsp. monspessulanum were evaluated from two different places (altitudes) in Antalya, which are Sanlı Plateu in Serik District and Beycik-Üçoluk Plateu in Kemer District, it was observed that the population in the Üçoluk Plateu which has lower altitude had higher values and there were statistically significant differences. When characteristics of the leaves, fruits, flowers, shoots and plant sizes of A. sempervirens were determined from two different places (altitudes) of Antalya, which are Ulupınar Village and Ulupınar-Çınarlı walking route in Kemer District, it was observed that the population in the Ulupınar-Çınarlı walking route which has lower altitude, had higher values and there was no statistically significant differences. When the colours of mature leaves, autumn leaves, flowers, shoots and fruits were considered in terms of the characteristics of colour for the two different altitudes, it was observed that there were statistically significant differences for Acer monspessulanum subsp. monspessulanum, however, there was no statistically significant difference for A. sempervirens. When the effects of landscape factors were considered on genotype diversity, which was determined by evaluation of 45 genotypes (27 from Sanlı Plateu, 18 from Üçoluk Plateu) for Acer monspessulanum subsp. monspessulanum and 50 genotypes (20 from Ulupınar Village, 30 from Ulupınar-Çıralı walking route) for A. sempervirens, and 66 morphological characteristics for both species, it was observed that altitude, temperature, rainfall and soil characteristics were important for Acer monspessulanum subsp. monspessulanum, however, the only soil characteristic was important for A. sempervirens. At the end of the study, while there was a largely of genetic similarity (98%) between individuals of the same species for both Acer monspessulanum subsp. monspessulanum and A. sempervirens, there was 89% genetic similarity between these two species. After the determination of the effects of human and grazing on the populations of species, it was emphasized that they need to be protected. Moreover, plants could not be propagated by cutting successfully at the end of the study.
