Background-aim: Along with developing industrialization and industry, the increasing rate of occupational accidents causes not only economic losses, but also a serious mortality and morbidity. With Beck Depression Scale, depression states and Epworth Daytime Sleepiness Scale, daytime sleepiness states were evaluated and the relationship between them was examined. Material-method: The study was carried out on patients directly admitted to Manisa Celal Bayar University Emergency Department with a work accident between 01.12.2019-01.03.2020. 181 patients over the age of 18 who had a work accident during the day shift were included in the study. Data were obtained prospectively by talking face-to-face with patients. Results: The average age of the participants is 33.72 ± 9.589 (18 - 58). The majority of the cases are male gender with a value of 82.3%; 17.7% were women. In the current professions of 181 workers included in the study, the average working year was determined as 11,20 ± 8,273 (1-38). Moderate sleepiness increased in 13.3% and severe daytime sleepiness was detected in 7.7%. No significant correlation was found between demographic characteristics, educational status and working years of the The Beck Depression Scale total score average value of the participants included in the study was determined to be 21.83 ± 7.075 (min.9 –max. 40). When the Beck Depression scale score of the participants was evaluated, the mean score was found to be compatible with the moderate depressive state. No significant relation was found between the educational background of the participants and Beck Depression Scale scores. When the t-Test results, which were conducted to determine the difference between the rank averages obtained from Beck Depression Scale according to gender of the participants of the study, were examined; the average of women is higher than men and there is a statistically significant difference between genders. It was determined that there was a moderate, positive and statistically significant relationship between the Epworth Daytime Sleepiness Scale and Beck Depression Scale scores of the participants. Conclusion: It was observed that gender, age and working year increased the depression score, and that women, those who spent many years in professional life, and the older age group were more depressed than younger people. reducing the factors such as depression, anxiety, anxiety and reducing work accidents and losses due to work accidents should be planned.
