Abstract (EN)
Study Objective: Renal colic due to urinary system stone disease is frequent visits reason for emergency services. Which patients imaging should be done is still a matter of debate. Bedside ultrasonography to be performed in an emergency room may be an instrument to help in this matter. İn our study we aimed to determine the position of ultrasonography in renal colic diagnostic algorithm. Material and Method: This study was performed at Akdeniz University Hospital. Patients visits to the emergency room with flank pain and performed bedside ultrasonography were included in the study. Patients who diagnosed hydronephrosis with bedside ultrasonography was compared with other patients. Therewithal patient's data was recorded according to STONE flow chart. Patients included in the study were questioned whether a kidney stone by the hospital information management system and a week later they were called by phone for whether a kidney stone. Parameters related to urinary system stone disease were tested by logistic regression analysis. Results: A total of 445 patients were included in the study. 292 patients were diagnosed with renal colic. Male gender, the pain onset within hours, history of kidney stone, costovertebral angle sensitivity, hematuria in the urine and hydronephrosis in bedside ultrasonography were found to be significant. İn Logistic regression analysis; the pain onset within hours, hematuria, hydronephrosis in bedside ultrasonography, presence of costovertebral angle sensitivity, history of kidney stone and male gender were detected significant parameters. Conclusion: Hydronephrosis in bedside ultrasound performed in emergency department is a very strong indicator of renal colic diagnosis. Within the STONE rules nausea and vomiting were not significantly found in patients who visits emergency department with flank pain Key words: flank pain, bedside ultrasonography, renal colic, STONE
