.71- ABSTRACT This descriptive study aims to determine the burnout levels of nurses working in emergency services. The sample comprises 155 nurses working in emergency services of Hacettepe University Adult Hospital, Gazi University, Faculty of Medicine Hospital,Gülhane Military Medicine Faculty Training Hospital, Ministry of Health Ankara Hospital, Ministry of health Etlik Hospital, Dışkapı Hospital, Bayındır Hospital and Mesa Hospital. As data collection tool, data collection form prepared by the investigator and which includes demographic characteristics of the nurses and 'Maslach Burnout Inventory' have been used. In the evaluation of data, t test (Independent sample test), one way Anova; Kruskall Wallis test and Mann Whitney U test have been used. According to the findings of the investigation, burnout levels have been found to be associated with variables such as age, sex, the reason why they choose nursing as a profession, the present status of being educated at graduate level at a nursing school, hospital where they work, overall duration of working, duration of working in emergency service, weekly work schedule, work patterns, and participation in social activities outside hospital. In addition, having difficulty in patient care and in relations with relatives of the patient, being subjected to verbal or physical assault by the relatives of the patient, doing one's job willingly, and the status of wishing to work in a service other than emergency service and the period when they want to work in emergency service are all factors influencing burnout levels.
