The relationship of neutrophil lymphocyte and acute coronary syndrome in patients diagnosed in the emergency department

Objective: The rate of NLR as a potential myocardial lesion marker of acute coronary syndrome was investigated in patients admitted to the emergency department with chest pain and diagnosed with unstable angına pectoris. Method: As a result of the cardiology consultation of the patients who applied to the emergency service between 01.03.2020 and 01.09.2020 with chest pain, the patients who underwent coronary angiography in the cardiology unit with the diagnosis of USAP were scanned in the archive system. Statistical analysis of the data was made in IBM SPSS Statics Version 26 program. The predictive power of NLO values for angio positivity was evaluated by ROC analysis. P˂0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: 67.3% of the subjects included in the study were male, 32.7% were female, and the mean age was 59.94±10.32 years. In our study, 71.2% of USAP patients were diagnosed with hypertension and 44.2% had diabetes. When the mean distribution of neutrophil, lymphocyte and NLR values with age and mean distribution of angio-positive and negative cases was examined, no statistically significant difference was found between the groups (p˃0.05). Conclusion: In ourstudy, when the mean distribution of NLR values of angio-positive and negative cases was examined, no statistically significant difference was found between the groups. As a result of our research, it is thought that the diagnostic accuracy of the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio is not sufficient. The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an inexpensive and easily accessible inflammatory marker whose role in cardiovascular disease has been extensively investigated over the past few years. It is recommended to study in different sample groups.
