The evaluation of noise caused by open-air activities -stadiums

The sporting events organized for the city inhabitants to relax and to spend a quality time in their exhausting and busy lives, behave like a noise source for their surroundings when the necessary precautions are not taken, and disturb the people living in the area. The negative effects of the stadiums located in city centers on their surrounding areas have been sampled with this study, carried out in the Ali Sami Yen Stadium and its close neighborhood. Within the scope of this study, the noise effects of the stadiums on their surroundings have been presented with the personal observations, the subjective evaluations covering the survey study and noise measurements, and the objective evaluations covering noise mapping works; additionally, solution recommendations have been produced in lights of the results obtained. Eventually, after all the research undertaken in this study, the noise levels produced by the stadium has been identified as well above the acceptable limits determined by the regulations in effect.
