Özet (TR)

The study was carried out with the aim of investigating the factors affecting pain severity, pain characteristics and pain experienced by patients after open heart surgery in the Chest Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic at Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia, T.R.N.C. This is a qualitative study, planned and conducted in accordance with a descriptive cross- sectional design. The study's universe consists of 83 patients who underwent open heart surgery in the thoracic cardiovascular surgery clinic of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, located in the Nicosia province of TRNC. In the study, interviews were made with 70 people who had open heart surgery, who agreed to participate in the study and the patients "Patient Identification Form" and "Short Pain Inventory" were applied. Pain levels within 24 hours before the survey was performed were evaluated. It was determined that 70.0% of the patients who participated in the study stated that cough increased postoperative pain and 90.0% stated pain relieving pain after surgery. It was determined that 92.86% of the patients had pain while coughing after the operation. 32.9% of the patients were found to have recovered from 80.0% of their aches. The mean scores of the worst pain severity in the last 24 hours were 7.50 ± 2.15 points, the mean of the mean pain intensity was 2.04 ± 1.21 points and the mean pain intensity in the last 24 hours was 4.66 ± 1.68 points and 2.61 ± 1.88 in the mean of pain severity at the interview. It was found that there was a statistically significant correlation between satisfaction scores of patients with pain management and pleasure scores (p <0.05). This correlation is negative and weakly correlated. According to this, as the satisfaction scores of pain management of the patients participating in the research increase, the enjoyment scores in life are decreasing. It was determined that the patients had a statistically significant correlation between the average pain scores in the last 24 hours and the general activities, emotional activities, walking, deep breathing and coughing exercises, sleeping and enjoying life pleasure of the last 24 hours. The mean score of the patients in the last 24 hours was 7.30 ± 2.29 in relation to the effects of deep breathing and coughing exercises. There was a statistically significant difference (p <0.05) between the scores of deep breathing and coughing exercise in the last 24 hours according to gender of the patients. It was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the scores of the patients who experienced pain in the last 24 hours according to their alcohol consumption status (p <0.05). 94.29% of the patients stated that the sternal incision site was painful.
