Abstract (EN)
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is a form of patients who have unresponsive to conventional treatment and pulmonary or cardiac failure. ECMO is life support system to carries venous blood that becomes enriched with oxygen and has carbon dioxide removed to a gas exchange device (oxygenator). Synthetic circulation in ECMO system is actualized by different types of pumps which are Magnetic Sentrifugal and Impeller Sentrifugal. Centrifugal pumps are nonocclusive pumps which activate the blood based on the principle of centrifugal motion. The pump' impeller gives energy to the liquid, changes the kinetic moment and gives acceleration. The pressure difference between the intake and discharge vents realize synthetic circulation. Magnetic Centrifugal pumps are powered by a magnetic field generated with the help of a Magnet. Pumps contain a rotating impeller in a closed system. The rotation of the impeller generates a force. The impeller of a centrifugal pump is rotated rapidly to impart velocity to a pumped liquid. When a propeller, is in the middle of the system, is rotated it imparts velocity to the liquid around it The aim of this study is to investigate which pump is more useful also used as a reliable life support treatment method for patients who used ECMO with 2 different centrifugal pumps after open heart surgery in Gaziantep University Sahinbey Research and Practice Hospital, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery. According to for this issue, Some data, that are blood analysis data, survival times and number of revision surgeries of patients using ECMO after open heart surgery, are used to analyzed by the help of IBM SPSS STATISTICS-25 program. Analysis results were explained and interpreted by the help of tables and graphs in line with different statistical methods. All parameters of the patients who used different The Magnetic Centrifugal ECMO pump or The Impeller Centrifugal ECMO pump were compared and interpreted, and the study was concluded by making recommendations for the most efficient, reliable and effective pump type for the patients.
