Abstract (EN)
Day by day the dependency of telecom operators to vendors increases to cope with the high traffic volume. In this study; it is aimed to significantly reduce the dependency on vendors by the application of innovative approaches on three main issues where the dependency exists. The first of these issues is the need for high-cost, vendor proprietary devices for traffic steering using the service function chain structure in legacy networks. To solve this problem, in this study, a service function chain capable of dynamic traffic steering has been developed and tested in the mobile network infrastructure. The second of these issues is the dependency in legacy passive optical fixed access networks where central and end devices must be purchased from the same vendor. To eliminate this dependency, SDN enabled broadband access technology is applied and tested on a fixed network. The third issue has been identified as problems in dynamically making bandwidth, network and access configurations according to instantly changing needs in the management of intranet services in legacy networks using vendor proprietary devices. In this study, to overcome these difficulties a SDN based platform developed and tested on the intranet network. According to the results of the comparison with legacy networks, following evaluations are made that, developed or applied open source SDN / NFV technologies can work stably even under heavy traffic, also can significantly eliminate dependency on vendors and can be used in large-scale communication networks and can decrease maintenance and procurement costs.
