Determining evaluation criteria for open and distance learning course videos: A Delphi study

This study aims to determine the evaluation criteria of open and distance learning course videos using the Delphi technique. For this purpose, qualitative research method was used. Case study was determined as the study design and purposeful sampling was determined as the sample. The sample consisted of expert panelists working in lecture video production or open and distance learning field. During the data collection process, four Delphi rounds were conducted with 13 panelists. In the first round, a semi-structured interview form was presented to the panelists to determine the evaluation criteria. In the next two rounds, panelists were asked to answer the criteria on a 5-point Likert scale. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis in line with the consensus conditions. Accordingly, criteria that did not meet the conditions of median ≥ 4, interquartile range ≤ 1 and consensus percentage ≥ 80 were eliminated. In the final round, panelists were asked to re-answer the eliminated criteria. To keep the consensus on the criteria high, consensus percentage was determined as 90 and above. At the end of the tours, 7 themes, 15 dimensions and 68 criteria were obtained. According to the results; course videos must be up-to-date, understandable, interesting and suitable for personalization. It is necessary to use subtitles and high-quality audiovisuals in videos. Learners have difficulty accessing videos. The teacher's voice and body language positively affect learning by providing interaction.
