Examination of Adakale Turkish folk tales by Max Lüthi method

Tales, one of the most ancient yields of oral culture; They are prose products that are created in the minds of the people and spread by word of mouth, that are influenced and diversified by the cultures of the societies they reach while spreading, and enrich by diversifying. Tales are one of the anonymous genres related to the narrative, about which many academic studies have been made in the field of folklore. Although there are many studies on the type of folk tales in Turkey, the methods used in the analysis of folk tales do not show diversity. The fact that the number of academic studies on the Max Lüthi Method in Turkey is low is one of the indicators of this. Max Lüthi is a famous literary theorist who devoted his life to the study of fairy tales. He identified five principles of universal peculiar to the nature of folk tales. Hungarian Turkologist Ignác Kúnos; He compiled various folk tales the beginning of the 20th century on the Turkish island of Adakale on the Danube, which is now under water. The main source of 19 Adakale tales compiled by Kúnos from Adakale and published in Ádakale Mesekertje Török népmesék (1923) is his own compilation dated 1907. The main subject of this thesis is to read the 19 tales in question from this main source and to analyze them within the framework of Max Lüthi Method. In this direction, in the first part of the thesis, general information about the fairy tale genre is given and genre characteristics are conveyed. In the second part, Adakale's historical and socio-cultural background and Ignác Kúnos's compilation activities in Adakale are mentioned and detailed information about Adakale folk tales is given. In the third chapter, after mentioning Max Lüthi's life and works, his method is explained in detail. In the last part, 19 Adakale Turkish folk tales were read and summarized from their main source and examined in the context of five principles put forward by Max Lüthi about the essence of folk tales.
