Turkey-Syria relations in AK Party Era

In this study, Turkey-Syria relations in Justice and Development Party Era have been analyzed under the framework of neorealism theory of international relations. In this context, neorealism forms the conceptual framework of the thesis. For this reason, Turkey-Syria relations have been analyzed at the system level and it has been tried to highlight the effects of international relations system on Turkey-Syria relations. While Syria was the success image of "zero problem" policy, it later became the most problematic country for Turkey. Systemic effects on the way how problems in the history of Turkey-Syria relations evolved and developed are important to give us idea about today's problems. That's why, the systemic level analysis of Hatay, Water and Terror problems which are the prominent ones in the history have been taken into consideration. The Arab Spring that came out in 2010 in The Middle East and reached to Syria in 2011 is the most significant cause that effects Turkey-Syria relations. After The Arab Spring, the relations deteriorated. At this point, the main aim of the study is to be able to explain the transformation of Turkey-Syria relations with a systemic analysis based on neorealism.
