Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the speaking deficiencies and itstypes.The participants of this study were the first and second grade primary school studentsattending the school located in city center, Seyhan and Yuregir towns, Adana.Data collected consisted of individual negotiations with the students havingspeaking deficiencies, their mental files, and negotiations with the families, the guideteachers and the class teachers. During the study the articulation tests proper to theindividual levels of the students were applied in a silent and comfortable room suitablefor studying. Regarding the class teachers' view, the students were chosen by the schooladministration and guide teacher The types and levels of the speaking deficiencies weredetermined at the end of each test.One dimensioned chique square was employed to find out whether therewould be statistically significant among the number of siblings(sed ve karde ), theeducation degree of the parents, the second language state, the pre-school state, age, sex,class level of the speaking deficiencies. In addition, double dimensioned square analysewas applied to determine whether there would be statistically significant differenceviamong the number of siblings, the education degree of the parents, the second languagestate, the pre-school education state, age, sex, class level of the speaking deficiencies.Of the 7046 541 students included in the study were found to have languageand speaking problems. Observation percentage of language and speaking problemswere determined as 7,7%. Considering the language and speaking problems, the mostoften one was "articulation" while the least one is "palate-lip hiatus". A statisticallysignificant difference between the frequencies of language and speaking problemsaccording to their sorts existed. Yet, it was found that speaking problem indicatesvariability according to age, sex, class level, pre-school education state, theeducation degree of parents, double languages state, and socio-economiclevel.In the light of the data, the families, teachers, and school administrators of thestudents were informed about the speaking development, kind and degrees of speakinghandicap, and they were gone through therapy methods.
