The main objectivesof this study are to investigate the weeds in first and second season corn fields, theeffectiveness of herbicides against these weeds, and the possible problems with theseherbicides. With these objectives is mind , the public surveys with farmers, the fieldsurveys and the field experiments were done. As a result of these studies, mostly, theweeds species, Amaranthus spp. species, Cyperus rotundus L., Echinochloa spp. species,Portulaca oleracea L., Setaria spp. species, Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers. and Xanthiumstrumarium L. were determined as problems in cornfields. Also, identifying the problemweeds in corn in the early weed period resulted in good weed management results. Inaddition to this, the field studies showed that the chemical weed control with theapplication of Acetochlor and Foramsulfuron which have wide spectrum control, in 2 -3 weeks period of corn growing gave the best management results. Acetochlor, which isused for weed control can be affected from the outside factors rather thanForamsulfuron.Key Words: Maize (Zea Mays L.), weed control, herbicidesII
