Retrospective investigation of the cats and dog's intraoral lesions in adana province

Intraoral problems are one of the painful and frequently encountered problems observed in varying degrees of severity in cats and dogs. If some oral lesions are not detected and intervened at an early stage, they can progress and cause many diseases, especially nutritional problems, with fatal consequences. In the study, the evaluation of the type, breed, age, gender of cats and dogs with intraoral lesions in Adana between 2018 and 2023, and the diagnosed lesions and the problems for which surgical treatment was attempted were compiled. Of the 2441 cases that comprised the research material, 2238 cases were cats and 203 cases were dogs. Stomatitis in cats 10.95% (n=245), caudal stomatitis 4.29% (n=96), uremic stomatitis 0.58% (n=13), viral stomatitis 12.87% (n=288), ulcerative stomatitis 10.95% (n=245), gingivitis 24.62% (n=551), periodontitis 22.97% (n=514), cleft palate 1.39% (n=31), gingival hyperplasia 0.27% (n=6), unfallen primary teeth 0.31% (n=7), tooth fracture 1.16% (n=26), tooth resorption 1.52% (n=34), tooth root abscess 0.62% (n=14), tartar 2.19% (n=49), malocclusion 1.74% (n=39), trauma and foreign body injury 3.57% (n=80) rates were recorded. In dogs, stomatitis 1.48% (n=3), ulcerative stomatitis 0.49% (n=1), gingivitis 4.43% (n=9), periodontitis 5.42% (n=11), gingival hyperplasia0.49% (n=1), papilloma 6.9% (n=14), epulis 12.32% (n=25), unfallen primary teeth 16.26% (n=33), tooth fracture 7.88% (n=16), tooth root abscess 0.98% (n=2), tartar 19.7% (n=40), malocclusion 3.45% (n=7), trauma and foreign body injury 20.2% (n=41) rates were recorded.
