Key Words: Alkali aggregate reaction, aggregate One of the importan research subjects of concrete industry in recent years is alkali aggregate reactivity, which is the absorption of moisture of concrete by reactive silica of aggregates. This reactivity is caused by the mineralogical structures of the components of the concrete. The reaction causes cracks, tensile and weaknesses in flexural strength on concretes. This study aims to determine the alkali silica reactivity of some aggregates quarries from Adapazarı region. Samples were collected from aggregate quarries located in Sakarya river, which provide a significant amount of aggregate for concrete production. ASTM C 289 chemical method was carried out on the aggregate samples, followed by ASTM C 1260 accelerated mortar bar and ASTM C 227 long-term mortar bar experiments on the mortar bars. The results are commented and ASR in aggregate sample are appraised for concrete. At the result, according to long period expenditure bar method aggregates from Sakarya Adliye are harmful for ASR in concrete, aggregates from Mollaköy, Hendek, Ferizli, Akçay mountain material, Adliye Kalealtı are harmless for ASR in concrete. According to speed long period expenditure bar method aggregates from Sakarya Adliye, Mollaköy, Ferizli, Akçay mountain material, Adliye Kalealtı are harmful for ASR in concrete, aggregates from Hendek are harmless for ASR in concrete. According to concrete prism method aggregates from Hendek and Akçay mountain material are harmless for ASR in concrete. According to chemical method aggregates from Sakarya Adliye, Mollaköy, Ferizli, Akçay mountain material, Adliye Kalealtı are harmful for ASR in concrete, aggregates from Hendek are probably harmful for ASR in concrete.
