Abstract (EN)
Pre-school period is such a very important phase that the language development exists very fast, the children develop their word powers and discover the beauties of their language in this period. Therefore the children should come together with the materials which are not only suitable for their language and word power but also help their language and concept development. In pre-school period, the books are important materials that improve children?s vocabulary world. Especially tale books are very important products as they have an important role in children?s lives when they first meet the books. So the children should be faced with qualified tale books. The books which the children may see at school or at home should be suitable for their degrees of development. The books should also consider children?s vocabulary levels and try to extend their vocabularies. This research is carried out in order to determine whether the 6 year old children can perceive the tales in different books and whether the vocabularies of these tales are suitable for the 6 year old students? level. These tale books that we want to analyse belong to different publishing houses and they can be found widely in pre-school education institutions. All of the 6 year old students who attend pre-school education institutions of Sakarya in the 2011 ? 2012 education period compose the field of research. The schools which were chosen in Sakarya ? Adapazarı compose the sample of the research. These schools have differnet income levels, Fatih Primary School (low income), Şeker Nursery School (middle income) and Private Doğa Collage (high income). We chose two classes from each school randomly for the sample. Before the research, all of the pre-school education institutions were visited in Adapazarı. At the end of the visit, it was seen that three different set of tales belonging to different publications are most common at school libraries. One book from each of these set of tales was chosen for the research and the study started with these three books. The research was done in two phases. In the first phase, the words we need for the research were determined in one of the classes of the school, and in the second phase these words were applied to the students of the other class. The datas derived from the research were analysed through quantitative analysis. The survey datas derived at the end of the appliance and the students? answers to the questions which are in the vocabulary evaluation measure were analysed and commented with the help of SPSS 11.5 software programme. At the end of the research it was seen that the vocabularies of the three tales found in the libraries of the pre-school institutions are not relevant to the levels of 6 year old students. The factors such as the students? gender, his/her year(s) at school, number of children in the family and father and mother?s education status and job status were analysed in details in order to see whether they are effective in childrens? vocabulary or not. According to the results it was seen that there is not a meaningful difference with these factors. It is clear from this situation that, no matter which conditions the children come from, the vocabulary of the tale books are not convenient fort he children?s level. The research shows that there is a meaningful difference in the relevance of the tale books? vocabulary with the children?s word power accoding to the school factor. So it is seen that the facilities of the schools and different education models have positive effect on students.Key words : Pre-School Education, Vocabulary, Tale.
