Abstract (EN)
It is often needed to measure the strengths and power produced by muscle contraction in sports and health fields. In the field of sports, muscle strength is measured for the selection of skills, monitoring of training effects, monitoring of physical fitness. Diagnosis of diseases, determination of treatment methods and control of rehabilitation processes is determined with muscle strength measuring in medicine. For the evaluation of muscle strength and power, field tests, isometric tests, isotonic tests and isokinetic tests are used. The isometric and isokinetic strength measurement methods are the most commonly used methods for evaluating muscle strength and power in literature. Isometric and isokinetic strength measurements can produce valuable information about muscle and muscle groups. Isometric dynamometers and isokinetic dynamometers are the most commonly used methods for isometric force measurements. Isometric dynamometers are relatively cost effective and simple compared with isokinetic dynamometers. Isokinetic dynamometers provide a wide range of detailed information about the muscle strength and power. However, the major disadvantages of isokinetic dynamometers are their high cost and non-mobilization. For this reason, a low cost adaptable isometric strength measurement and training development system was designed within the scope of the thesis. The designed system consists of mechanical structure, strength measurement sensor, electronic circuit and computer software. Isometric-isotonic strength analysis can be performed and training programs can be applied with the system. The developed system has a lower cost than its equivalents in the literature. It is adaptable to different machines and measuring methods. The functionality and reliability of the developed isometric strength measurement and training system has been proved by calibration tests.
