Abstract (EN)

In this Thesis study, it is aimed to carry out mineral exploration studies by using rock samples mineralogical-petrographic of these samples were aimed to carried out with geochemical and ore microscopy analyses that surroundings around, 80 km2, square which covers Adatepe village and its circle to Devrek District Zonguldak province. İn the research area Sedimentary units, magmatic units and metamorphic units have been formed from Precambrian to until present. Precambrian aged Yedigöller Formation which forms basis of the research area, is consists of unseparated amphibolite, gneiss, migmatite, meta granite, metavolkanik, schist and marble. The Ereğli Formation, which is represented by Middle Ordovician-Lower Devonian aged mainly of shale, sandstone and limestone, overlies the Precambrian aged Yedigöller Formation with an angular unconformity. The Upper Cretaceous aged Kazpınar Formation which consists of volcanic agglomerate, tuff, andesite, basalt, volcanogenic sandstone cuts the Yedigöller Formation and Alluvium unit which represented by Quaternary gravel, sand, silt, clay and slope debris with an angular unconformity. The Upper Campanian-Lower Eocene aged Akveren formation which is composed by semipelagic limestone, shale, sandstone and conglomerate cuts the Yedigöller Formation and Ereğli Formation on the top. On the top of the Akveren Formation lies the Lower-Middle Eocene Çaycuma Formation, which is represented by yellow, white coloured, claystone alternating agglomerate, siltstone, thin medium bedded sandstone tuff and marl intermediate levels. In mineralogical (ore) microscopic examinations, less chalcopyrite and magnetite are compared to pyrite, which is the predominant ore mineral. and rutile minerals. Partly braunite can also be seen in the samples. Rock guides compiled from the are analysed by major oxide analyses (Na2O, MgO, Al2O3, SiO2, P2O5, Cl, SO3, K2O, CaO, TiO2, V2O5, Cr2O3, Fe2O3, LOI) loss on ignition with trace elements (Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Ge, As, Se, Br, Rb, Sr, Nb, Zr, Mo, Cd, İn, Sn, Sb, Cs, Ba, Hf, Ta, Pb, Bi, Th, U) and rare element analyses (İ, Te, La, Ce, Th, W, Y, Ti) were performed. Total 7 sample were taken from Yedigöller Formation, Ereğli Formation and Kazpınar Formation rocks polishing block section and major oxide trace element and geochemical analyses were completed.
