The causes of suicide from the point of view of forensic science and preventive measures

Suicide, which ranks in the top Dec among the causes of death, is one of the most important problems of societies. For this reason, it is of great importance to prevent suicide by identifying the causes of suicide and to reintroduce people who have attempted suicide to society. The fact that some individuals in our country are in the suicide risk group due to personal and environmental factors makes it important to protect them more carefully, educate them, identify risk factors and create preventive measures. Forensic science is used to distinguish whether a forensic incident that has taken place is a suicide or a murder. Determination of the causes of suicide, understanding how the suicide event occurred, determination of the methods and tools used are carried out in the light of forensic sciences. Suicide is caused by biological, psychological, sociological, economic, political, cultural, individual, familial and social causes. It is important to determine the risk factors by determining what causes suicide and to apply preventive measures in accordance with the risk factors. In this study, it is aimed to determine what should be done in the context of identifying risk factors and implementing preventive measures to prevent suicide. The main objectives are to develop solutions based on expert opinions by revealing the role of forensic sciences in preventing individuals at risk of being driven to suicide.
