Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between organ weights and sex, age, height, weight and BMI and the reference weights of organ weights in men and women in Turkish society. Materials and Methods: The files of the patients between the ages of 18-65 who performed autopsy between the years 2010-2017 in Malatya Forensic Medicine Department were examined retrospectively in terms of organ weights. The statistical analysis of the data was calculated using SPSS 22.0 package program. Results: Of the cases, 396 (17%) were natural deaths and 1923 (83%) were traumatic deaths. The number of cas was 1854 (79.9%) in men and 465 (20.1%) in women. As a result of the statistical analysis, the mean brain weight in traumatic deaths was 1440,96 ± 124,596 g in males and 1298.48 ± 126,404 g in females, the mean weight of heart weight was 339,22 ± 66,985 g in males and 277 ± 76,398 g in females, the mean left lung weight was 442.35 ± 190.45 g in males and 360.35 ± 168.472 g in females, the mean right lung weight was 495,05 ± 204,796 g in males and 407,93 ± 172,661 g in females, the mean weight of liver weight was 1477,79 ± 270,495 in males and 1385,66 ± 301,320 g in females, the mean weight of right kidney was 151,33 ± 37,009 g in males and 134,37 ± 35,720 g in females, the mean weight of left kidney was 155,66 ± 39,659 g in males and 138,57 ± 38,370 g in females, the mean weight of spleen was 163,54 ± 55,287 g in male and 153,33 ± 56,467 g in women. Gender, age, height, weight, BMI parameters have been shown to affect the weight of all organs except the brain statistically. Conclusion: In our study, a significant deficiency was eliminated in Turkish literature by determining the reference values of male and female sexes separately in Turkish society. Keywords: Organ weights, autopsy, reference values, body parameters
