Özet (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between psychological resilience and stress coping levels in adolescent athletes. The population of the study consists of adolescent athletes from various sports disciplines in Isparta province, while the sample group comprises 250 amateur athletes who volunteered to participate in the research. To determine the participants' demographic characteristics, a "Demographic Information Form" was used; to assess their psychological resilience, the "Children and Youth Psychological Resilience Scale" was employed; and to measure their stress coping levels, the "Adolescent Coping Scale" was utilized. The data obtained were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 17.0. Since the normality tests (Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk) indicated that the data did not show a normal distribution, Spearman Rank Correlation Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis Test, and Bonferroni Post Hoc tests were applied. Frequency, percentage, minimum, maximum, mean, and standard deviation values were also used in the data analysis. The significance level was set at p<0.05. According to the findings, there is a significant and positive relationship between psychological resilience and active coping, and a significant and negative relationship between psychological resilience and maladaptive coping. However, no statistically significant difference was found between psychological resilience and avoidant coping. Additionally, no significant relationships were found between athletes' psychological resilience and coping levels with variables such as gender, sports discipline, age, grade, sports experience, and license type. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the relationships between psychological resilience and stress coping in this study align with general trends in the literature and that different demographic variables may complicate these relationships. The results also suggest that methods for enhancing athletes' psychological resilience and coping with stress should be individualized.
