Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of aerobic-step and pilates programs on strength, flexibility, anaerobic power, balance and body composition30 female people working in METU with the average age of 39.26± 3.19 for aerobic-step (group 1) and 38.13± 2.84 for pilates (group 2) have participated in the research voluntarily. They have chosen to participate in weather aerobic-step or pilates by their own will. Same number (N:15) of people has been participated for the each group. To be able to get information related to the participants' physical, physiological and anthropometric attributes, anthropometric and performance tests were applied two times before and after the 8 week training. Their body weights, leg powers, flexibilities, anaerobic powers (perpendicular jumping), dynamic balances, thickness of their skin curl abilities, percentages of their body fatness, body mass indexes and ambit measurements of their bodies has been studiedAfter the study, at the body weight measurements of the participants, there has been an expressive difference (72.12±6.89-70.66±6.99) for group 1. However, no difference (59.88±9.21-59.72±9.26) was found for group 2.After the study, there has been worthy results and differences in physical and physiological parameters. It has been approved that, aerobic-step has more effect on body fatness and waist-hip (obezite) ratio, pilates studies have more effect mostly on balance parameters and flexibility.Key Words: Aerobic-step, pilates, physical properties, physiological properties.
