Abstract (EN)

Disasters and emergencies occurring at unexpected moments create economic problems for both the individuals exposed and the regional administrations in every field they occur. In order to reduce or eliminate these problems, people and institutions are asked for help. It is known that these donations made under the name of helping behavior reduce the possible effects of disasters and emergencies. This study, which aims to investigate the factors affecting donation behavior of individuals in disasters and emergencies, also determines the reasons for the increases in the number of donor and donations. In this way, it is aimed to increase the amount of both donors and donations. When the studies in the literature are examined, it has been observed that studies targeting donation behavior for disasters and emergencies are lacking. This study, which is necessary due to the current insufficiency, covers only Menemen district of İzmir province due to some lack of resources. The survey was created by Tatsuya Nogami and taking expert opinions arranged and adapted to conditions in Turkey. This questionnaire form was applied through online platforms and the results were analyzed and evaluated with the SPSS 26 package program. As a result, it has been observed that examining donation behavior of individuals in disasters and emergencies positively affects donations, disaster information, disaster and emergency preparedness, and skepticism towards charities have been found to have an effect on donation behavior.
