A study over defining the level of awareness on occupational health and safety measurement and first aid of the employees working in the industrial and mining companies whose may have a high risk of disaster and occupational accident: A case study of Gümüşhane province

Disaster; unexpected and undesired incidents, which may put a society under a threat, which may leave the society without the capabilities of tackling the results, which may require to trigger the resources all over the country, which may cause high degree of fatal casualties and loss of assets. Considering occupational health and safety, it is quite critical to equip the employees with a first-aid training who work in the companies which may hava a high risk of disaster and accident and thousands employed such as industrial and mining companies. By this study, it is aimed to measure the level of first-aid awareness and the understanding of safety climate of the employees working in the industrial and mining companies in Gümüshane within the context of occupational health and safety and to identify the relations of all those measarements with each other. It is benefited from some supplementary statistics like frequency and percentage distribution, arithmetical averages, standard deviation along with One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney U tes, Pearson Correlation Analysis in order to analyze the data obtained from the study conducted with the participation of 297 people. As as result, it is observed that there may exist some comprehensible distinctions/relations between the demographic, educational level of occupational health and safety, first-aid, state of occupational accidents of the employess and the understanding of occupational health and safety, 7 sub-dimensions (communication, predestinarianism, safety management, indivudual responsibility, safety standards and objectives, personal role, management engagement) and awareness of first-aid.
