Abstract (EN)
In Turkey, which is one of the risky countries in the event of disasters, although the studies written in the legislation, established systems, educational campaigns and efforts to eliminate the security gap are continuous, a disaster preparedness deficiency created within the framework of their own value judgments manifests itself in society. In this context, the purpose of this study is to create a model that reveals the relationship with the variables of values, beliefs and attitudes in the domain of disaster preparedness behaviors and to provide what is necessary to disaster managers and stakeholders by testing this model. 800 people, including the simple random sampling method, were included in the study from individuals aged 18 and over residing in the city of İzmir. As a data collection tool, demographic characteristics (10 questions), "Disaster Preparedness Beliefs" (3 sub-factors 10 questions) "Disaster Preparedness Values" (8 questions), "Disaster Preparedness Attitudes" (2 sub 11 questions) and "Disaster Preparedness Behaviors" (20 questions) the questionnaire form was used, consisting of 5 parts. Research questions were evaluated with a 5-point Likert scale. SPSS 21.0 is used in exploratory factor analysis and reliability analyzes, and AMOS 24.0 program is used to analyze the measurement model, the analysis structured equation model, create fit indices and determine direct-indirect effects. The results of the study showed that disaster preparedness beliefs directly positively affect disaster preparedness values, disaster preparedness attitudes and disaster preparedness behaviors; disaster preparedness values directly and indirectly affect disaster preparedness behaviors positively; showed that disaster preparedness attitudes (cognitive, affective) do not positively affect disaster preparedness behaviors directly or indirectly. Based on the results of the research, it is recommended to make a rooted bridge in disaster behavior and to bring disaster culture and spread it in the society.
