Abstract (EN)
Afghanistan is a central country where many nations have come and made their homeland in the historical process and left traces of itself. The development of the concept of identity in this country, which has ancient characteristics, has also been shaped in connection with the historical process. Although some studies have already been carried out on Afghanistan's ethnic structure and identity formation, the deficiency in this area has not been eliminated. The most essential basic requirement of today's Afghanistan is to define a common national identity by building the nation. Some uncertainties between ethnic groups and the ethnic, linguistic and religious policies of the governments from the past to the present have created a barrier in front of the formation of a national identity. The Afghan nation does not see its own identity on the axis of the nation, but evaluates it on the basis of ethnicity, language and sect. This point of view not only caused the Afghan people to lose their sense of trust towards each other, but also led to the failure of the national identity and nation-building process. In short, the differences between ethnic groups prevent the formation of identity in this country. In this study, we evaluated the process from the historical process of the concept of identity to the emergence of Afghan national identity. Key Words: Afghanistan, Identity, National, Identity, Politics
