İran supported non-state actors in Afghanistan

This study aims to analyze Iran-supported non-state actors in Afghanistan. This study in question; Particularly, the proxy fighters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard army and the Quds force in the post-Iranian Islamic Revolution period are important for Iran to create influence in the region and have a say in Afghanistan's internal affairs, considering Iran's extension militia forces in Afghanistan. Within the scope of the study, local and foreign literature was studied, and descriptive content analysis method was used. As a result of this study, it has been seen that since 1979, Iran has used many common elements with Afghanistan such as religion, language, and culture in its foreign policy to spread the Shia ideology in line with the aims of the Islamic Revolution and to make Iran a regional power, especially in Afghanistan. It has been determined that Iran's presence in Afghanistan has led the country into economic, political, and sociological instability and swamp. However, after the 9/11 attacks, with a good-natured policy for reconstruction, it supported both the re-established state and the Taliban terrorist organization as a non-state actor behind the scenes, even though it was ideologically opposed to it. It has also caused ethnic conflicts in the country by creating ideological proxy fighters from the Hazaras. Keywords: Actor, Afghanistan, Ideology, Iran, Non-State
