Using of movie as propaganda vehicle in Afghanistan

The aim of this study is to demonstrate the propaganda linking Afghan cinema. ?Afghan film? which produced most of it?s films in1980-1990, is under the effect of political regimes and films produced by the institution mostly serves for the system since it gets its budget from the government. So, in this study, different kinds of propagandas will be manifested by searching propaganda and its relationship with the cinema particullarly in the five long lenght films which demonstrate political changes in Afghanistan such as Farar (Escape) - 1984), Saboor Sarbaz (Soldier Saboor) - 1985 and Parendahaye Mahajer (Migrant Birds) - 1986) and Oruj (martyr) - 1995 and Osama (Usama) - 2002 of which the first three directed by Engineer Lafi Ahmadi, the fourth and the fifth by Nur Hashim Abir and Sideeq Barmak and Sideeq Barmak, respectively. For this purpose the five films have been analyzed by means of time, space and charachters with a quadrangle method developed by a French semiologist A. J. Gremias.According to the analyzing results, it has been found that the films produced by ?Afghan Film? in Afghanistan like other parts of media mostly demonstrates the regimes propaganda since the İnstitution is monopolized by the systems.
