Efforts of african scholars to spread Arabic language and Islamic culture (the example of the Republic of Mali)

This thesis examines the efforts of African scholars in spreading the Arabic language and Islamic culture, who played a significant role in the spread of Islamic civilization in Africa. The study aims, with a particular focus on the example of the Republic of Mali, to analyze the educational activities of these scholars, their production of religious literature, and their social influences. Although the literature contains numerous studies on the place of Arabic and Islamic culture in Africa, there is a lack of research specifically addressing the contributions of local scholars in Mali. This study seeks to fill this gap by shedding light on the processes of the spread of Islam in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a specific focus on the Republic of Mali. The originality of this thesis lies in its attempt to understand the dynamics of the Islamization process in Africa through a regional case study. The anticipated outcome is to reveal the impact of Arabic education processes and religious influences on the current social structures in the region. The study will be conducted in light of historical sources, local religious texts, works in the Arabic language, and academic research. Qualitative research and document analysis methodologies will be employed. The thesis will proceed in four stages: literature review, data collection, analysis, and reporting. A timeline of nine months has been set for its completion.
