Comparison of leisure time aktivities between school of physical education and other colleges in students of afyon kocatepe üniversity

SUMMARYCOMPARISON OF LE SURE T ME AKT V T ES BETWEEN SCHOOL OFPHYS CAL EDUCAT ON AND OTHER COLLEGES IN STUDENTS OFAFYON KOCATEPE ÜN VERS TYThis study aimes to find and compare the activities of students in their sparetimes who are studying in physical education college and other colleges of AfyonKocatepe University.Beside professional training programs, universities should find out theattitudes of students about the activities in their spare times. Universities of course, isnot the only object of the finding out of the attitudes of students. But it could be seenthorough the findings that they have some value.In this study, a querry which was consisted 29 questions and 3 divisions, wasperformed and, Khi-square test is performed in Social Sciences Package of Statistics(SSPS) for the correlations of the frequence and percentiles of the findings, a p valuewas considered significant when less than 0,05.Querry has three divisions. Those divisions are consisted of personal, family,educational data and activities in the spare times. This querry was performed to the571 students who were studying in Afyon Kocatepe University in the years of 2004-2005.While the rate of taking lessons per week more than 26 hours was 8,4% in thestudents of Physical Education College, it was 37,1% in other colleges. 22,0% of thestudents in Physical Education College thought that they effectively managed theirspare times, 33,7% of the students in other colleges thought that they effectivelymanaged their spare times.While 76,0% of all students preferred sport activities for managing their sparetimes, 47,1% of all students mentioned that their preferring activity was music. Itwas found that 30,6% of the students of Physical Education College spend 2 hoursfor managing the spare times, the 35,6% of students of other colleges spend 1 hourfor managing the spare times. While the 51,6% of students of Physical EducationCollege preferred sprot activities in their spare times, the rate was the only 36,6% forthe students of other colleges.The satisfaction level of their lives for the students of Physical EducationCollege was significantly different when compared to the students of other collegeswho did not interested in sports (P<0,05).Continuing the activities before and after the university education wassignificantly different for the students of Physical Education College when comparedto other colleges (P<0,05).The rate of watching sport programmes was significantly different for thePhysical Education College Students when compared with the students of othercolleges for the rating of the television programme watch (P<0,05).Prefferring the sport activities for the students of Physical Education Collegewere statistically significant when compared to the students of other colleges for theactivities in their spare times (P<0,05)Key Words :1- Physical Education And Sport2- Leisure Time3- Recreation
