Prevalance of surgical diseases in ruminants referred to Afyon Kocatepe University Veterinary Health Application and Research Center

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalance and to classify the distribution according to tissues within species in ruminants that diagnosed surgical dieseases referred to Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU) Veterinary Health Application and Research Center between 2007-2012. The study materials consisted of 952 ruminants (cattle, sheep and goat) various breed, age and sexes referred to AKU Veterinary Health Application and Research Center between 2007-2012. The diesease of ruminant showed a wide variety of distribution the grouping was carried out with respect to tissue and organ systems. A total 952 cases for the complaints of diseases was 93,27% of cattle, 5,77% of sheep and 0,96 % of gaots in 2007-2012. Bone tissue and skeleton system, joint, foot, general inflammatory cases, digestive/urinary tract diseases and navel lesions and hernias were coomonly observed disorders according to the distribution of diseases. In conclusion data generated here may contribute to the current literature and has the capacity to provide knowledge on the prevalance of surgical diseases to clinicians in practice.
