Misconceptions on heat and temperature subjects at 12th grade students in Afyonkarahi̇sar downtown area

The main object of the survey in this thesis is to detect 12th grade students' knowledge about heat-themperature subjects and conceptual mistakes about these issues.This study has been conducted in 2 Anatolian high schools and 1 Science high school in Afyonkarahisar city center in season 2013-2014. 67 students from 2 Anatolian High Schools and 68 students from Science High School have participated in a survey. In this survey, there were 25 questions for students to answer and there was no time limit for answering questions. Questions were with comprehensible language for students and fluency was one of the significant properties of questions. Questions were in the type of determining the conceptual mistakes and most of the questions were in such way which students can comment on them. Before we ask the survey questions, we asked students additional 8 questions to examine students' physics success levels, socio-cultural status and the effects of these conditions on their success in the class. This survey result shows us that students have serious problems about these conception mistakes. As a result, for students success rates to increase, students needs to get rid of these conception mistakes.
